Trains/Metros
Did you know you cannot go to Bristol from Bournemouth, on one train. Why?
Did you also know that at one time you could get a train from Bristol that would travel all the way to Carlisle, sometimes i would hear it roaring through the bottom of our garden at half past eleven at night.
In this day of being encouraged to use the motor car less, thus reducing fuel consumption, and pollution, one would have thought, it would be obvious to invest in Train/metro transport.
The reason for this - it's quick, more people can get to where they need to go, it cuts the travelling time, thus reducing car congestion in the inner Cities, and local villages. So why has this not happened?
I can hear the Polititians now saying, it's to costly.
IS IT ? To whom?
Why of course, (government) less cars on the roads, = less car Tax and ( less tax on petrol because the little motorcar is not being used).
Has anyone stopped to work out, how much the Government acquires from these two Taxes alone?.
What is the COST to the public,
Paying Car tax =Car maintenance=Traffic delays=longer journey time
THE SAVING by using the Train/metro is less traveling time, = less stress from driving anywhere.
The added bonus of seeing a beautiful countryside not eaten up by more roads with gridlocked traffic.
So when are we going to wise up and lobby these so-called caring economic environmentalist politicians? To get them to do the right thing by investing in new rail infrastucture - that is more Eco friendly to this world in which you and me and our grandchildren live in .
My message to the government is stop this short-sightedness, and do what needs to be done for us all!
