DYSLEXIA

I can here you saying, we all know about Dyslexia.

DO YOU?. DO YOU really know all there is to know about the Dyslexic.
Here are some facts.

Not all Dyslexics have the same degrees of disablement, here is an example of what some Dyslexics may go through.

1) Have you travelled the wrong way on a motorway even though, you have read a Sign post, not a few minutes before?

2) Telephone Numbers are the hardest, only at times remembering three digits out of a six digit number .

3) Maths, some Dyslexics find Division, tables, and subtraction almost impossible to do.
Car parking is a nightmare if you have to key in the Car plate numbers, that’s bad enough, but if you have a Car telephone dialling card system, this is an impossibility. No thought for the Dyslexic here.

4) Reading, have you ever tried to read when someone is moving the News  paper or book, again this is how some Dyslexics have to cope, with letters moving, and some words they can’t understand the meaning of, because they don’t have the know-how of recognising words that have silent letters in them.

5) Spelling;  well, what can I say, the most difficult and frustrating of all. Who was it that said the more you write a word, the more you will remember it?. I’d like to shoot him, or her in the knee.

6) When some Dyslexics read, they take longer to comprehend what they have read. They have had to read fast, so fast as to keep the sequencing in momentum with-in the word line. Only at the end of the page can they think about what they have read, thus trying to comprehend all the information.

7) Oh, I forgot in some cases Dyslexics have memory loss.

All in a Days Work
With this in Mined. Imagine starting a new job. In the Crown Court, without any one knowing you’re a Dyslexic.

1. For Starters, you would have to somehow remember the room numbers, hundreds, of them, so this would take weeks to learn.
2. Imagine eleven Courts in progress, then at the end of each day the Dyslexic has to not only try, to read what the eleven clerks have written, then type it all into the computer. And some Dyslexic can only type in a sequenced manner, if they talk out loud. Otherwise they miss words out.

3. Another job role is to answer telephone calls regarding, a particular Court out-come. This would have to be read out, correctly to the person on the other end of the phone. Remembering there were months of Court hearings for each Court Case, so one would be looking up hundreds of pieces of written documentation, before they could find the right one.

Trials moved
This is something the Dyslexic just does not want to happen

1. When it does they would have to, telephone the Prison Authority, to make arrangements for the prisoner to be transferred to where the Court has gone.

2, Telephone and write to all the witness.
3. Telephone and write to the Barristers.
4. Notify the Judge.

All this is on top of the days work
a)     Which meant, answering the telephone to Barristers, police, the general public, prison authorities, and the CPS.
b)     Tuesdays and Thursdays would be the day to collect all files (20 to 34 files in any of the days required), and all necessary paper work, relevant to the next days Trials, or PDH, or Sentences. The paper work, or files, could be on any one of four office floors.

c)      If for any reason a file went missing, then the trial could not go ahead.

d)     Write up all the outcomes of the Courts, by five pm on the same day.

e)     At the end of the week compile a statistical report on the eleven, Judges reading times, if the report was wrong in any way the Judges would not get paid.

For any one to do this job is hard enough, for the Dyslexic it was a night mare of a job, but it proves Dyslexics can do the same as anyone else given half a chance. Even though it is ten times as hard, and without anyone knowing.

What’s worth remembering is that every Dyslexic has different degrees of this disablement, and a little understanding wouldn’t go a miss.

What is also worth saying is that not all Dyslexics know they have this condition, and so go through life thinking they are daft, or stupid which they are not.
Lastly Dyslexics are as good as anybody else, and will not accept defeat of any kind, neither will they accept limitations, why should they?
They can do anything if they have a mind to. I hope I have enlightened you all.  I look forward to your Comments.

Bournemouth Planning Authorities

We All know about the Planning systems, and the process of getting Architectural drawings granted. Most of use read all the dos and don’ts. And respond accordingly.

But who governs Planning Authorities, Who is it that has the final say in these deportments, dues anyone know?.

You see from what I’ve seen of Development Planning, it’s non-existent. I cannot take the planning Authority seriously. Have any of them really gone to University and studied, if so, should they really be Planners? How long have they studied? If at all.

I say this because, I always thought Planners cared about the environment to which development is introduced. WHOOPS this can’t be right.

Lets take a look at the Bournemouth Imax, that is now, after pressure from the public, being redeveloped. Another bad piece of planning is the road running across the beautiful gardens, in Bournemouth Centre, and blocking the unforgettable sea view, destroying the natural sea scape.

What fool gave permission, for this to take place.

I must also mention the sadness of original houses, Bulldozed to the floor, to make way for the monumental pristine, super steel enforced, toughened Glass verandas, of new housing spread along the seashores of Bournemouth, (pulled down twenty years later to make way for a carbon copy).

Hasn’t the planning Authority, realised that the long established History, and the environmental identity has been destroyed. Wiped out for ever, never to be brought back to life.

The Children and Adults of today, will now end up like our ancestors crying into Historical old photos wishing they could see Bournemouth in its original state of glory. But because of some short-sighted Planners, together with arrogant greedy Developers, its all gone.

Well done, give yourselves a pat on the back.

Sorry I've run out of Medals labelled 'gone with the wind'.

Choice In Education

Eleven years old and considered not clever enough to take the eleven plus. Branded a "Non achiever", Educational Staff not interested enough to find out why, or whether one could have excelled, in anything. No choice was given here.

At my Comprehensive school, excluding the Art and Athletics, the teaching staff were indifferent. So I left, with not even a hope.
That was in the mid 60s and no choices here.

(picture - Brunnel Academy, Bristol)

Into the 90s, Back into Education at Soundwell College. The teaching staff were tremendous giving so much support, enabling oneself to find how far one could really go with their own ambitions.

But alas let down once again by Bristol UWE (University West of England) finding the “special support” room was constantly locked. Thus a choice, taken away.

So has the Education system changed? And if so is it for the better?

Today there are more increasing demands for pupil reports, performances grids. OFSTED keeping a close eye on things, plus peer examining peer. So the Education system has changed.

But could there be a danger of too many evaluations being carried out?

And has the changes made been far too frequently, to the extent that many institutions are ‘punch drunk’ from a constant litany of renewed or ‘new’ initiatives.

Hasn’t Government gone too far?

Isn’t there a danger of over boiling the Teachers, and Lecturers, with too much statistical paper/administration work, and not enough emphasis, on the classroom teaching?

To conclude, I leave you with this; Parents, as well as Teachers have a responsibility to encourage and inspire, creating enthusiasm within the child to do well, even if this is regardless of grades.

Is this what the Wolf report is all about? Are we now going to enable choice within the system instead of fixing on dead-end vocationalism? Or is it yet another version of meddling and work making?

Lost Industry

INDUSTRY

Where has all the Industry gone? long time passing.
Where have the machines gone? long time ago.

Where have the workers gone, gone to sign on the local dole - when will we ever learn, when will we ever learn?

Where have all the business men gone? long time passing

Where have all the investors gone? long time ago.

Where has all the money gone, it went abroad to see the sun,

When will we ever learn, when will we ever learn.

Now its time to tally up, the total, countless messy cost

And never mind the council’s needs

Or council housing that we need.

Never mind these warning signs

Private housing sites on Industrial ground

And don’t worry if the ground caves in,

Insurance man will suddenly ring, telling you what clams to claim, never mind what state the country's in.

When will we ever learn when will we ever learn

Industries lost to Britton

Confectionery Cadburys Chocolate Ltd

Printing DRG Robinsons

Shoe Industry Lennerds

Car Industry Rolls Royce-Jaguar-Bentley and more

Attraction with young girls lets get it right

Having listened to a Radio program, where a study was carried out, regarding young girls, and how men viewed
them , I can quite clearly see how Men, Media, and the Fashion Industry, have a misunderstanding of the way young girls, view and present themselves.

Firstly let’s clarify the miss conception that “young girls asks for it”. Ask, for what? Sex ?

WRONG, WRONG, WRONG. AND WRONG AGAIN

What they are saying is, I want to be accepted with friends, and my family,I also need to fit in with the ,“in crowd”, by wearing the Wright/Fashionable Cloths, I become trendy and am then accepted with friends, family. So” look” at me, I am some one who has something to say, and belong with the “in crowd”.

AND THAT IS ALL.

Who is to blame, for the misunderstandings?

Fashion Industry, with its advertisement, aggressively aimed at young impressionable girls, Thus portraying a fashion image as being acceptable, whether it is or not, giving little chance, for any young girls imaginative brain to show individualism with- in the creative clothing world.. This being the case, limits chose. Hence media Brain wash “Are you still with me?”Add to the scenario short skirts, black /false eyelashes, one can see where some groups of society would get confused, as to what signals are being given out.

I believe, the fashion industry and its designers, plus the media have to take a lot of the responsibility for this situation, and the mess it leaves the young of today. I also believe the young men, should be tolt in schools by professionals in the ART of socialisation, thus leaving no douted of what restraints are required, when dealing with female social behaviour . And femails themselves should look fare closer, at how other people see them, and THINK is the imaged ,im giving the right one foe me?.

England was always a saffe place to live in, but is it now?

Stapleton road Bristol, was a respectabal place to live in. in the 30s to the 90s and now there are camras on lampost, whaching every one who walks in the road. It has to be said its a must, due to the numurase numbers of nasty incedence going on.

Most of the reasons are drug related. So to those who naiveily think that its ok, to grow your own, and smoke( WAKY BAKY), ie ,Maywana. Its not it may be a Class B drug, but leeds onto the harder drugs.

As a responsable population we must take stoke and not generaly accsept Druges of any discription comming into this country, are anyone taking them. so lets get real and act.
Traffic, traffic, traffic, everywhere, and not a vehicle has moved.
This was the position I found myself in on Friday 4th. at Lansdowne (Bath) bypass, where the traffic lights stayed red - (I mean, they didn't actually change at all!), then at a roundabout towards Salisbury, the road was closed off, hence detour, towards Amsbury, and yet more road maintenance.
To conclude, a traveling time that should have taken me 2 to 2 and half hours, took me 4 hours.

WHY you might well ask. Due to road works being carried out all at once, in order to use-up unspent funding for this year, thus allowing companies to reapply for new finance, for the forth-coming year.

It doesn't matter where you are in the country the situation is the same ROAD WORKS.
This of course is a miss-use of management handling of Road work financing.
It's time you and I started to speak up about the fact that the whole country's roads are turned into demolition sites, all at once.

Its not on!
